"It feels good to have something to feel good about."

This Friday, Mississippi State begins play in the College World Series. First time in 9 years. I wish I could go. If I had the vacation time and money, I'd be there.

Baseball was always the one thing MSU fans could hang our hats on. There was a long down period where things looked bleak for a few years. Then this year's team, before even starting play, was disappointing. Picked to finish dead last, there wasn't much hope for the season. All most fans wanted was a chance to make the SEC tournament.

Then the team got off to a good start, won a few SEC series and even upset some of the better teams in conference. People started getting optimistic. But hopes started crashing when the team faltered toward the end of the season. They finished second in the West, which is good, but lost too many down the stretch to satisfy most fans.

2 and out in the SEC tournament left a bad taste in everyone's mouth, except the players. They said they had momentum going into the post season. What?

Well, they were right and we were wrong. The Diamond Dogs blew through their regional and secured a Super Regional berth. The Super Regional was nothing short of awesome. I was there for Friday's game, part of a record 12,620 in attendance. Couldn't make Saturday's clinching victory, but that didn't stop me from celebrating at the house. I scared the dog, but it was worth it.

Now, they are just a few wins away from the elusive national championship. I honestly don't think they'll get it. While they are peaking at the right time, the other teams there are just as hot, some even hotter.

Still, it feels good to have something to feel good about.
