Season-ending picks

Where did the season go? I can't believe that the final games are this weekend. I'm not ready to focus all my attention on basketball.

Oh wait, I don't have to. Why?

MISSISSIPPI STATE IS BOWL ELIGIBLE!!11!~

6 wins so far. 6 freakin' wins. Hardly anyone figured this team would do it. Heck, I'll admit I wasn't one of them. Things looked bleak early on. But this team rallied around each other and the coaches and played some inspired football at times.

Chances are high for a bowl game come late December. 6 wins means they are eligible, not guaranteed. A 7th win guarantees a decent bowl game, likely the Music City in Nashville. At least, I hope so.

So on to this week's games. Final tally of my pitiful picking to come later next week or something.

Arkansas at LSU

The Battle for The Golden Boot. Arkansas comes in with the best player in the country in Darren McFadden and the kookiest fanbase that wants to fire their coach. Can LSU stay focused on the national title game while rumors swirl that their coach is leaving for another job? Since it's in Death Valley ...

Nutty Hogs - 17
Ballsy Tigers - 28

Tennessee at Kentucky

Tennessee needs to win to go to Atlanta for the chance to lose^H^H^Hbattle LSU for the SEC title. Kentucky is looking to win to improve their bowl scenarios.

Big Orange - 38
Big Blue - 35

Wake Forest at Vanderbilt

There's always one meh game, isn't there? Vandy blew their chance at a bowl game last week when they couldn't hold on against Tennessee. A win here gives them six and could vault them above certain other teams (wait for it) for a bowl spot.

Owned by Vandy? - 21
Vandy? - 24

Georgia at Georgia Tech

The Guv's Cup. Hairy dawgs and ramblin' wrecks. A potential blowout.

Hairy - 42
Wrecks - 17

Florida State at Florida

Oh, what this game used to be. Now, it's just fodder for Superman.

F$U - 10
HE15MAN - 35

Clemson at South Carolina

Big game for both teams. Clemson constantly wants to fire their successful coach. USC is free-falling. Winner goes bowling happy. Loser goes into the off-season with lots of questions to answer.

Bowling - 27
Bowling? - 27.5

Alabama at Auburn

LOUISIANA-MONROE?!?!?!

LOUISIANA-MONROE?!?!?! - 24 (and not bowling in favor of Vandy)
Using the other hand - 25

Ole Miss at Mississippi State

The Battle for The Golden Egg. This game hasn't had much riding on it in recent history. Both teams have been stinking to high heaven at times this decade. But this game gives both teams hope. Ole Miss is looking to not finish winless in the SEC. State is looking to move up the bowl chain.

Not since '82 - 17
Not since '00 - 28
